W.C. Fields said "Never work with children or animals."
Fields never worked these kids.
Over the past five years, I have photographed the children where my son goes to school along with a another school. These are some of most gratifying shoots of the year for me. The best time during the shoot is when one child doesn't want to have his/her photo taken on that day.
They always get a second chance but they make you work for the payoff.
See you kids this fall.

Over the past few month I have been privileged to help out a great organization by covering some events and taking some portraits for their annual report.
The Oasis Institute, http://www.oasisnet.org/, has, for almost 30 years, promoted successful aging through lifelong learning, healthy living and social engagement. I first heard about the organization through my mom. She would go to her local public school to read to the kids. Fast forward to this year, I wanted to try to find a photo project that could be a benefit to more than just me.
I have worked on several different projects with Oasis over the last few months but I loved the last event. Oasis teamed up with the Ferguson, MO Library, Earthdance farms, which is also located in Ferguson and two OASIS intergenerational programs, CATCH Healthy Habits and Tutoring, to get kids reading and moving. It was part of the national “Let’s Read, Let’s Move” summer program spearheaded by Michelle Obama. The kids learned some dance moves, talked about the healthy snacks from the produce grown on the farm and took home books donated by the library.
Thank you, Oasis.
Here is you creative thought for the day....
Racing. Fast bikes. Beer. Good crowds and lots of fun. All add up to a great night of crit racing.
